Celebration of Saint Magdalene of Canossa, Patron Saint of IPDC
This year, the celebration of 8 May—the liturgical feast day of Saint Magdalene of Canossa, the Foundress and Patron Saint of IPDC—was marked with great joy, unity, and enthusiasm through a variety of activities organized by each school.
Saint Magdalene of Canossa is the patron saint of all Canossian schools. Therefore, in Comoro, the entire Canossian community gathers together to celebrate the Holy Mass in unity and thanksgiving. After the Mass, the celebrations continue within each school compound through various activities and programs prepared by the respective institutions.
At IPDC, the celebration featured several engaging activities, including an intramural football competition, fun games, and various competitions involving both students and faculty members. These activities strengthened the spirit of camaraderie, teamwork, and fellowship within the IPDC community.
It is also important to note that Saint Magdalene of Canossa is the patron saint of the Department of Office Management, while the Department of Tourism is under the patronage of Saint Joseph, and Saint Josephine Bakhita is the patron saint of THC. Led by the Department of Office Management, a nine-day novena prayer was conducted every morning at 10:00 a.m. in preparation for the feast day celebration.
On the culminating day, a solemn Holy Mass was celebrated and animated by a combined choir composed of IPDC students and secondary school students. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Dominikus, FdCC, together with four concelebrating priests. The Mass became a meaningful moment of thanksgiving, reflection, and spiritual renewal for the entire academic community.
Following the Mass celebration, the festive atmosphere continued within each school and department. During the program, the winners of the various games and competitions were officially recognized and awarded for their participation and achievements.
The celebration of Saint Magdalene of Canossa once again highlighted the values of faith, unity, service, and fraternity that continue to inspire the IPDC community in its educational mission and daily life.
