XI Graduation Ceremony of Instituto Profissional de Canossa Inspires Hope and Excellence

Dili, 2 December 2025
— The Instituto Profissional de Canossa (IPDC) proudly celebrated its XI Graduation Ceremony, honoring the achievements of 68 graduates from three distinct departments: Technical Computers and Informatics, Office Management and Tourism, and Hospitality and Culinary. The solemn yet joyful event took place at the Madre Erminia–Celeste Halls of Canossa School in Manleu, Dili.

The ceremony gathered graduates, faculty, families, and distinguished guests among them the Executive Director of ANAAA (Dr. Nilton Paiva Mau), the Coordinator of CUIS (Dr. Edmundo Viegas), the Vice President of INCT (Dr. Agusto Soares), Rector of ISJB (Fr. Isaias Caldas, SJ) ,the Canossian Sisters, many friends and benefactors, marking a significant milestone in the academic and professional journey of students formed in the Canossian tradition of excellence, service, and human values.

In a deeply moving valedictory address, Dionísio Martins, Lic. TCI, the class valedictorian, expressed profound gratitude and shared his aspirations for a future filled with hope and purpose.

Highlights of the Event

  • The Madre Erminia and Madre Celeste Halls overflowed with vibrant energy as graduates received their diplomas amid warm applause and heartfelt celebration.
  • One of the most touching moments of the ceremony came when graduates, one by one, were invited to approach their parents with a bouquet of flowers while the poignant song “Inan-aman nia kolen selu la bele” filled the hall. Many graduates knelt, embraced their mothers and fathers, and shed tears of gratitude alongside parents who had sacrificed so much. The emotional scene moved the entire audience, embodying the deep Timorese values of family and filial devotion.
  • Among the distinguished guests was His Excellency Dr. José Honório da Costa Jerónimo, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture. His inspirational speech emphasized education as a powerful instrument of personal transformation, national unity, and service to the community especially now that Timor Leste has officially taken part in the regional organization.
  • The Vice-Prime Minister, His Excellency Dr. Mariano Assanami Sabino, graced the ceremony with a profound *Oratio Sapientiae* entitled: “State-Building: Reflections on the 50th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence in the Context of Timor-Leste’s Accession to ASEAN.”
  • Cultural performances and symbolic rituals enriched the celebration, reinforcing themes of gratitude, hope, and shared identity.
  • The event beautifully reflected the Canossian mission of forming professionals who combine technical competence with moral integrity and ecological responsibility.

Instituto Profissional de Canossa extends its deepest gratitude to the IX Constitutional Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, under the leadership of His Excellency Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, for its unwavering commitment to the development of quality professional and technical education across the nation. The presence and inspiring words of the Vice-Prime Minister and the Minister of Higher Education bear witness to the Government’s vision of building a skilled, ethical, and resilient younger generation — a vision that IPDC is proud to share and serve.

A Legacy of Commitment

The XI Graduation Ceremony reaffirmed Instituto Profissional de Canossa’s enduring dedication to forming leaders who unite professional excellence with deep humanistic and ethical values, as expressed by Sr. Dulce Magno dos Santos, the Provincial Superior and President of Board of Trustees.

As these graduates step into new horizons, they carry forward the Canossian charism of compassion, resilience, and innovative service — together with the memory of tears shed in gratitude to the parents who made their dreams possible.

The day concluded with a joyful fraternal reception in the IPDC Seminar Room, filled with pride, fellowship, and a renewed collective commitment to building a brighter future for Timor-Leste through education and dedicated service.
