Sr.Terezinha do MJ Guterres Appointed as Rector of the Canossa Professional Institute
The Canossa Professional Institute held an official inauguration ceremony on
September 14, 2024, to welcome its new Rector,
Sr. Terezinha do MJ Guterres. This appointment marks her return to the leadership of the Institute following a seven-year mission (2017–2024) in Luanda, Angola.
Sr. Terezinha succeeds Sr. Ervínia Martins Brito, who served with distinction over two consecutive terms from 2018 to 2024, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the academic and institutional foundations of the organization.
The ceremony featured several significant moments, including:
- The formal reading of the minutes from the electoral meeting
- Addresses by the outgoing Rector, the incoming Rector, and the Director-General of Higher Education, Science and Culture, Dr. Maria Filomena Lay Guterres
The event was attended by esteemed representatives from the education and science sectors in Timor-Leste, as well as religious and academic leaders. Among them were:
- Dr. Maria Filomena Lay Guterres, Director-General of MESCC
- Dr. Nilton Paiva Mau, Director of the Agency for Academic Evaluation and Accreditation
- Dr. Valentim Ximenes, Vice President of the National Institution of Science and Technology
