Community Immersion Internship

August 12th, 2025 — Community immersion Internship for the Department of Technical Computers and Informatics (TCI), 2025

Today, 64 Semester VIII students of Technical Computers and Informatics (TCI) started their Community immersion program in Oe-cussi, precisely at the Posto Administrativo of Pante Macassar, Suco Costa. The official welcoming ceremony was held at the headquarters of Suco Costa at 9:30 AM. It was attended by the Second Commander of the PNTL for Pante Macassar; members of the Council of Traditional Leaders; representatives from the Directorate of Education and the local Church.

As part of the academic program, the internship will last for a month and two weeks, and will be filled with intensive community engagement programs such as trainings in  computer literacy programs to various groups. After the completion of the month, the students will dedicate a total of 10 days to wrap up their activities and finalize their report writing before heading back home.

In her remarks during the opening ceremony, Sr. Terezinha Guterres, the IPDC Rector, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the realization of the program, with special acknowledgment to the President of Suco Costa for his generous welcome and collaboration. On the other hand, Mr. Damião, Second Commander of PNTL reminded the students about the peaceful environment of Oe-cussi, however made it a point to remind everyone to always look up to respect and consideration in their interaction with one another and with the local community. After all the speeches, the Head of Department of TCI officially handed over the list of the internship students to the Mr. Francisco, the President of Suco Costa who in turn, warmly welcome his “temporary residents”.  After the ceremony, a light refreshment was served to the guests.

Just a reminder that this internship program is a partial requirement for the Licensure program at IPDC, carrying a total of 8 academic credits. It offers students the opportunity to complement their theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience in real-world projects, while also expanding their professional networks and deepening their sense of civic responsibility and patriotism.
